I will always be proud of this innovative project that Libby and I worked on at Modern Art. It was a branding project that took advantage of many weird and altruistic possibilities every step of the way.

The Situation at Hand

Trish Haverstick from Lemon Street Market wanted to promote her business in a unique way. We had worked on her branding inside the store and now it was time to get the brand outdoors.

How We Helped
Creative Direction, Branding, Installations, Community Engagement, & Art Education

When working with Trish, we came up with the idea of creating a Lemon Street Market Artbike that could be a mobile advertisement when her staff needed to run errands. When not in use it would be parked outside of the store for customers and passersby to see. This idea felt right for the market. Trish is a supporter of all things that help our planet and naturally saw how the bike could attract attention to help the Lancaster community become aware of bike-riding as a mode of transportation.

We partnered with PCA&D professors to use the Artbike as a real-life branding and design problem for their students to help solve. We visited their class to introduce ourselves and the project and asked the students to come up with a concept of their own. Later they came to Modern Art to present their concepts. Together with Trish, we narrowed down the concepts to three choices leaving Trish to make the final decision.

During the following weeks, students would come to Modern Art to help out with fabricating the bike. Libby and I worked on some of the special features, including a customized lemon-like helmet.
