Recap of Our First-Ever Creative Release Evening Edition

On Wednesday, June 5th, we had the pleasure of hosting the first-ever Creative Release evening edition, and it was nothing short of a making party extravaganza!

The event was a vibrant gathering, bringing together a diverse group of creative individuals eager to explore a variety of art supplies and express their artistic talents.

The atmosphere was electric with creativity and camaraderie. Attendees had access to an assortment of art materials, from paints and brushes to markers and collage supplies. The evening was filled with laughter, inspiration, and the joy of making art in a supportive and inclusive environment. It was truly a testament to the power of community and creativity coming together.

Part of the "Creativity Is" Project

Our event was part of the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) Center for Creative Exploration's “Creativity Is” project. This initiative, supported by the City of Lancaster Office of Public Art, offers the Lancaster community a unique opportunity to showcase their visual responses to the prompt, “Creativity is…”. The resulting artworks will be displayed in a community art exhibition at the Lancaster Amtrak station from August 9 – November 14, 2024.

About the "Creativity Is" Project

The "Creativity Is" project aims to engage Amtrak station visitors and travelers with a collaborative art installation that highlights the creative spirit of Lancaster. The Lancaster Amtrak station, being the second busiest in Pennsylvania, serves as an ideal venue to showcase the strength of creativity within our community.

From April to July 29, 2024, PCA&D students, faculty, community partners, and members of the Lancaster community are invited to participate. They can attend workshops, events, or visit our partner, Curio, to pick up a 6” x 6” canvas panel and create their response to the prompt, “Creativity is…”. These panels will then be collected and displayed, with the names of partner organizations and individual artists listed on the signage in the station cases.

A Community United Through Art

The evening edition of Creative Release was more than just an art-making session; it was a celebration of the creative process and the bonds it fosters within our community. We were thrilled to see so many people come together to share their love for art and contribute to the "Creativity Is" project. The event not only provided a space for artistic expression but also highlighted the importance of creativity in our daily lives.

We look forward to seeing the incredible artworks that will be showcased at the Lancaster Amtrak station and continuing to support the vibrant creative community of Lancaster. Stay tuned for more Creative Release events and opportunities to engage with art in new and exciting ways.
