Meditative Morning Watercolor

  • Jo Davis 341 North Market Street Lancaster, PA, 17603 United States (map)

Start your day calm, centered, and content with a Meditative Morning Watercolor Workshop. Slow down and pay attention to the medium, letting it guide your experience.

Join in person or stay in your pajamas and join online.

Creative expression is more about getting something down than thinking something up, but our days are busy and flooded with information coming at us left and right. How are we supposed to hear what is inside of us wanting to get out?

Meditative Morning Watercolor is a time for you to listen to your creative voice inside through watercolor painting. We practice methods to slow down and pay attention to the medium so that it can help guide your experience. When we get intentional and quiet with a brush in hand, little by little, we can start to hear that voice. Eventually, we learn how to listen to it without judgment.

We are painting for self-care and to develop a meaningful relationship with the medium itself. It’s also a space to foster connections between you and me as well as with other participants. Community is a huge part of a sustainable, nourishing art practice.

The majority of the time in this workshop will be spent painting independently focusing on the process of painting itself rather than the end result. You will practice listening to only your gut intuition with minimal structure.

DURING OUR TIME TOGETHER YOU WILL

  • Center the mind and foster a state of present-moment awareness.

  • Experiment with painting for meditation.

  • Explore the concept of impermanence in your artwork.

  • Learn to trust in the process and allow for artistic flow.

  • Develop ways to learn more about yourself through what comes out on the paper.

  • Discuss the value of a deep creative connection.

  • Share creative space with others.

We start our time together with introductions and intention setting. From there we will discuss ways that watercolor painting can access our innermost creative selves and the importance of self-compassion in our practice. Instruction will begin with a few demos on meditative watercolor techniques.

When our painting time is up, we will gather together again and share our painting experiences. This can be helpful to process and digest your own experience as well as learn from others. Often we will find that others articulate things in a way that resonates deeply with our own process.

>>> Additionally, I offer a 30-minute one-on-one mentorship session for an extra $40. This is an opportunity for individualized guidance and feedback. Hit me up for more details.
